Shopping has evolved so much over the past few years and it still is evolving. Shopping second hand or choosing vintage clothing was often reserved for markets and charity shops, but now it’s so readily available online. With sites like Etsy, Vinted and Vestiaire Collective and directly through Instagram it’s easy to shop for great quality pre-loved pieces suitable for all budgets. There's also a number of platforms where you can rent dresses and bags for special events, rather than splurging on a fancy outfit that you may only wear once why not rent? I've not personally tried this, but I absolutely would consider it for the right event. Circular fashion is so important when it comes to sustainability. I have been trying to shop more mindfully over the past few years. Here are some ways you could try and shop mindfully.
Set yourself a monthly limit, perhaps buy just one item. If you only allow yourself one piece then you’ll think more carefully about it rather than constantly clicking the Add to basket button.
Try rental fashion for a wedding or special event.
Go through your wardrobe and try and create new looks with what you already own and rediscover those items you’ve forgotten about.
Before you buy it, ask yourself the following questions:
Do you own something similar?
How many ways can you style it?
Can you see yourself wearing it in a few years time?
Great style is not about having loads of clothes or the latest must-have products on social media. It’s about expressing your personality and creativity and hopefully making you feel good in the process.
