We moved into our home at end of 2020, it’s an old property that is quite quirky and has a lot of original features including low ceilings and thick stone walls (we discovered rising damp last year) but luckily that’s been fixed now. The overall quirkiness sometimes means we don’t know how to use the rooms. At the front of the property is a small dark room we used as an office but it’s a through room between the kitchen and the hallway and wasn’t ideal for working as it’s too dark with juts a small window. So we recently turned it into a snug room which is kind of what it was originally when we first moved in. The office/gaming room has now been moved to a room that is off the kitchen and the living room which the previous owners had as a dining room. It’s ideal for us as we don’t need a formal dining room and no one needs to walk through the office and gaming room to get to the kitchen or hallway.
The new snug looks so much nicer as front of the house, we painted it green with warm wall lights and positioned two comfy armchairs, either side of a bookcase and added a couple of lamps. The room only has a tiny window and therefore lends itself to being cosy. It felt a bit too dark to be a work space. There’s no TV in the room, which I like (nobody else does) and we will possibly add a third chair in the corner to create space for an extra guest. More interior updates to come.
